REGARDING CCW AND WEBCHECK BACKGROUND APPOINTMENTS:When you call to make an appointment, or to ask questions, everyone is referred to our website, www.jeffersoncountysheriff.com This is for YOUR benefit. Explained as follows:This makes the process exceptionally easy for everyone to follow and expedites your appointment time. Most people are seen precisely at their scheduled appointment time and are in the building less than 15 minutes. Of course, there are unforeseen variables. The most common is someone not being entirely truthful when asked about their background and further investigation is required. Additionally, folks who do not follow the instructions take much longer to process and, consequently, each person following them does as well. Again, all of this is done for the applicant’s benefit. Going to our website makes it fast and easy for you to reference what is needed your appointment. Some appointments are several weeks, or at times months, away. (We are VERY busy processing applications/backgrounds) Folks are referred to the site so they can continually reference the relevant information without having to call repeatedly in the event they forget something. Because it is online, the information is readily available to you 24/7/365.Of course, if you do not have internet access, we will be happy to explain the process to you via telephone or in person. It is IMPORTANT that you read ALL of the information on the website regarding your type of appointment, CCW or WebCheck Background.Again, this is for the benefit of all applicants. We make every effort to get you in and out as efficiently as possible so you can carry on with your day. When you call this office, you are instructed to leave only your name and telephone number. No more information is needed. The reason for this is because Sgt. Slates receives over 100 calls each day regarding appointments. It becomes extraordinarily time consuming when messages are several minutes long each. It also limits how many calls can be returned in one day. Leaving only your name and number will get you a call back. Then, the matter of your call can be discussed in more detail. It saves you time from having to explain what you need multiple times to multiple people. If for some reason you do not receive a call back within a few days, one of the following problems have occurred:You could not be heard clearly in your message. This happens very frequently and the reasons are usually cell phone related in a poor coverage area or while driving in a vehicle with high background noise. You left your name but did not leave a number. (This occurs far more often than you think)We have called back and received the following message(s):“The person you called has a voice mail box that has not been set up yet.” OR “The person you are calling is unavailable.” OR You are using some third-party screening application. If this happens, and a few days have passed without you receiving a call back, please, call us again. ... See MoreSee Less
